PS. Did you see 'Flog It!' on 20 November ? A Claret Jug identical to ours was featured. It was bought at a car boot sale in Ulster for £3 and then sold at auction. The experts summary concurred with our own research. (It was designed by Dr Christopher Dresser, a modernist before his time, between 1880 & 1885 for Hukin & Heath). Unmarked and because there is no silver it was valued between £200-400.
Thanks to Moira Morrison for bringing this to my attention.
N Bruce v I Kerr (4-11*) [*club rule 1 invoked 2 shots added to I Kerr score]
G Fisher v B Yeats (8-5)
R Morrison v A Macrae (7-8)
R Shand v I McKay (4-9*) [*club rule 1 invoked 1 shot added to I McKay score]
By winning 3 games and with some excellent shot making in the final game Peter Knoll, Ian Kerr, Moira Morrison and Robin Bowden lifted the first silverware of the season. This left three rinks tied on 2 wins and 8 ends but Robert Shand, Phil Ward, Fiona Fraser and Neil Paterson were runners up on shots.
After the curling 18 members stayed on for Steak Pie and the presentation of the trophy and prizes.
Here are the teams for our annual curl fest and social gathering on Sunday 5 November exactly as drawn.
P Knoll, I Kerr, C & M Morrison, R Bowden
N Bruce, G Stanley, B Smith, P Kerr & K Beaton
G Fisher, C Forbes, I Ingram, A Dunbar
B Yeats, M Fisher, S Birnie, C Ross
R Morrison, A Shand, F Glascodine, G Sword
R Shand, P Ward, F Fraser, N Paterson
The curling will start at 2.30pm when we will play two games of four ends. You'll be glad to hear I have arranged for us all to have time to come off for drink and a heat for 20 mins before we return to the ice and play a further two four end games.
This means the evening meal (Steak Pie & Apple Strudel) will be served about 7.15pm with the award of the trophy quickly thereafter.
Your support for the 44th running of this Bonspiel is very much appreciated.

The semi finals will be played on Thursday 9 March at 8.30pm.
