Aberdeen won the Bonspiel earlier today with 3 wins against Rotary, Petroleum & Meldrum & Daviot. These bonspiels are a great social day with 12 clubs on the ice.

The team line up comprised Alison Dunbar, Lucy Fisher, Marie Fisher, Brian Yeats and Graeme Fisher (Skip).

Stewart Birnie was the deserved winner with 27 points and was awarded the Claret Jug. Graeme Fisher was runner up with 25 points and was awarded the Fiona Fraser Trophy. The scoresheet is here.

4 teams were on the ice this afternoon.

After the round robin Alan Simpson, Alison Dunbar, Brian Yeats and Graeme Fisher lifted the first silverware of the season by winning all 3 games. Andy Scott, Ian Ingram, Marie Fisher and Peter Knoll were runners up.

13 members stayed on for steak pie and the presentation of the trophy and prizes.

Season 2019/20

Welcome Brother and Sister Curlers to the new season.

The club's first games are on Tuesday 24 September at 8.30pm There will be a skips meeting beforehand at 7.45pm. All Winter skips are required to attend.

Please support the club as best you can and regularly check the website and club notice board for news, updates and all competition information.

There will be no more posts until late August when the 2019/20 season information will be uploaded. The club can still be contacted any time via email.

In the meantime new member enquiries for next season are most welcome.

Curling at Tarland

I had my first go at outdoor curling on Thursday evening with 12 members of Tarland CC on their floodlit pond, on a spectacularly clear night, with the temperature at -12C.

The snow was cleared earlier and four lanes of ice were marked out ready for us to compete in 2 of their Points matches.

The large pond has enough space for 16 lanes of curling!!

We played long into the evening on surprisingly keen ice completing all of the disciplines.

I somehow finished 4th equal in one match.
