Curling Clubhouse at West Cults
Further to my article with photographs of our pond and clubhouse, by coincidence, I have now come across a 5'x4' impressive oil on canvas painting of the clubhouse depicted in it's present delapidated state painted by local artist Jaki Sinclair.

Curling Pond at West Cults
Aberdeen CC used to have a large curling pond and club house at West Cults. The AGM minute books record that it was decided to abandon outdoor curling in October 1967 probably due to the milder winters and the availibility of indoor ice at Donalds Ice Rink at Spring Garden. In 1998 the club sold the remaining land and the majority of the proceeds were gifted to the Curling Project to assist in the building of the new curling rink at Lang Stracht.
Recently I was shown the above photograph of lots of people enjoying the pond on a busy winter's day in 1933. Having a keen interest in outdoor curling and local history I decided to visit the site to see what remains of the pond today. The story can be found here.

Spring League - Champions
Any one of the top three teams on the ice tonight could have won the spring league. In the end after a tense evening of curling Graeme Fisher, Jean Smith, Brian Yeats & Roddy Leslie emerged on top by virtue of having won one more end over the 8 games. Robert Shand, Mark Coutts, Ian McKay & Norma Pratt were runners up. Both teams won 7 and lost only 1.
